Final Blog

I have truly enjoyed this class. Photography has always been an interest of mine but I hadn't really put much time or effort into figuring out how the camera settings worked. I pretty much aimed and hoped for the best! Learning about what the camera setting mean has helped me understand my camera so much. I had no idea why a picture would turn out grainy or overexposed or blurry where I wanted it clear. I had no idea what to look for in a camera and now I do and I can fix it too! I also had no clue what shooting RAW meant. Now that I do I don't think I will ever Shoot not RAW again. I had such a struggle in my marketing class with editing because of it! Now I can edit pictures without destroying the pixels and understand how it works! The third thing I learned in this class that will have an impact on my photography in the future is the difference between lightroom and photoshop and how to edit. I mostly used photoshop before but I like the way lightroom lets you import a bun

These are just a few of my favorite pictures. I like this one because I think the sunburst is cool and I like that you can tell it’s a horse This one I really like how the light hit the horse’s eye and how clear it is This one I took in red lodge last week and the fog was really cool because it was hanging so low and you could see over the top of it.

Lightroom Tricks and Tips

https://petapixel.com/2018/11/10/10-lightroom-tips-every-photographer-should-know/ This article goes over a few tips for beginners on lightroom. I thought it might be helpful. Auto tone in lightroom: a good way to start. You can adjust from there but it gives you a starting point on the tone. Angle Tool: The angle tool helps straighten photos according to the horizon line. Crop Overlays: You can look at all of the crop options at once to decide what you want. Radial Brush: adds focus to what you want and blurs out the rest. Resets: Click the name of any tool with a slider and it will reset to 0. Luminance: affects certain colors Drawing Straight lines: hold shift when drawing lines and it will make straight lines Virtual copies: make it so you can edit multiple copies without taking up room on your hard drive. Lights out: hit L and everything will be blacked out so you can see just your photos without any clutter.

Arches and Light Painting

https://criswellphotography.com/painting-the-arches/ This is actually a link to a photography blog. I was looking for interesting articles and came across Michael Criswell's blog account of his night of photography the arches in Arches National Park at night but with bright lights on the arch. He calls it painting with light. The Pictures are so cool and it really hits close to home as I am from Utah and spent a lot of time in Arches as a teen. I never saw the arches in this light though! He talks about how crazy the crowd was on the hike up to Delicate Arch and how they were worries about shooting with the crowd. Lucky for them the crowd dispersed when it got dark. They got up to the spot they wanted to shoot long before the time they wanted to actually get the shot so they would have time to scout and they got some cool photographs out of it.
